Tuesdays with “TIM” BONUS!

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Yeah, yeah, it’s Wednesday. Consider this a bonus issue of Tuesdays with TIM! The Tuesday thing still applies because the video I’m about to show you was filmed yesterday which was (drumroll please)….TUESDAY!

Well, since Brian and I are in our final week of fundraising on Kickstarter, we wanted to make you an offer that is harder to refuse! We really need your financial support to help us make this film. If we don’t reach our total goal, all the money pledged thus far will revert to its respective donors. So, between now and the end of our pledge drive next Tuesday, March 29, if you pledge $500 or more to us, I pledge to do an ORIGINAL drawing of our lead character TIM! The only catch is that we have to make our full Kickstarter goal before I start wielding my pencil for you!

The type of drawing you can expect will be like this one…

Tim Burton tribute

You can get a similar original drawing such as this one if you take advantage of our new offer! Click on the image to go to our website!

Each drawing will be unique because each drawing will be drawn by hand – my hand! In addition, with your pledge you will be entitled to any other rewards we are offering on Kickstarter for the level at which you pledge! Does this sweeten the pot for you? If you need further convincing, check out the video below that we just put together for your amusement:

Thanks for your support! We are down to just a few remaining days in this fundraising endeavor! Come help make TIM a reality!

Tuesdays with “TIM”

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Well, today over on the TIM the Movie Facebook page, we have just unveiled a contest to win the original art seen here! This drawing was inspired by something in our script that I was working on this past week with my pal and Director Brian Joseph Ochab. I created the 8.5×11″ drawing over the weekend with black and purple Prismacolor pencils on some nice textured paper, and both Brian and I signed it for whichever one of you may possibly win it!

Below the art are all the rules about how you can win this art! Enjoy!

Tim Burton

Nothing excites a young goth lad like a shrunken zombie head I always say.

Welcome to the first ever TIM the Movie spectacular contest!!

The prize? We’ve gone all out to create a very special one-of-a-kind original pencil drawing by TIM’s co-Producer/Art Director Chad Frye signed by both Chad AND Writer/Director Brian Joseph Ochab worth $350!* It’s a drawing of our lead character Timothy Todd dressed as his hero while gleefully holding a shrunken zombie head.

To be entered into a drawing to win the, ahem, drawing, all you need to do is to make a monetary pledge of $10 or more to our film through Kickstarter between now and Thursday night, 11:59pm Pacific time on February 24th! The contest is open to ANYONE who makes a NEW pledge during the contest period, so the odds of winning the drawing are up to how many of you participate!!

And the best part of it is the drawing will be sent to the lucky winner NEXT WEEK – you won’t have to wait until our fund drive is over on March 29th like you do for the other Kickstarter rewards.

Here are the only two things you need to do to enter the contest:

1. Go to http://www.TIMtheMovie.com and make a monetary pledge to our film there on Kickstarter for $10 or more. You will be eligible for whatever rewards package you choose from the list, plus be entered in this special contest.

2. After making your pledge, you must send an e-mail with “TIM CONTEST” in the subject line to: WonderMotionStudios@gmail.com and tell us:

• your name

• your Kickstarter screen name

• and an e-mail address where we can notify you if you are the winner.

Keep in mind that these are just pledges. You are not charged any money right away. When you make a pledge on Kickstarter, you are only charged at the end of the pledge drive IF we have raised our total amount by that time.

The contest ends promptly at 11:59pm Pacific time Thursday evening, February 24th after which time one winner will be randomly chosen from among all the new pledges. The winner will be contacted to see where we need to send the original art!

Be sure to check TIM – the Movie‘s fan page on Facebook on Friday where we will be posting the name of the winner for all to see!

Good luck!

(*By the way, the actual drawing does not include “www.TIMtheMovie.com” across it. That’s just for our digital display here on the web.)

MONSTER MONTH: Day 23 – Law & Disorder

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Today is the grand unveiling of the winner of the Cartoon Caption Contest that has been taking place over on the Chad Frye • Illustration Guy Fan Page on Facebook over the past two weeks. Many folks submitted their ideas for what this illustration could be saying, I chose 5 of the best, and then left it up to the fans to vote for which one should win!

Congratulations to Charlie Eldred for his winning caption! To the other four finalists, Robert Bowman, Edward Murphy, Preston Jones and Matthew Schnittker, thank you for your great contributions!

Charlie has won a nice print of this drawing with his own caption that includes a sketch on it by me, along with a signed copy of my children’s book Jonah and the Very Big Fish.

Thank you to all who participated. Come join the Fan Page where other contests will be held in the future!

MONSTER MONTH: Day 12 – Frankenstein’s Monster

Monday, October 12th, 2009

What MONSTER MONTH could be complete without at least one inclusion of Dr. Frankenstein’s monster? Despite having deeply explored this character in my “Frankenlisa” painting from several months ago (CLICK HERE if you missed it!), once in awhile he keeps rearing his strange flat head amongst my sketches. Here’s a doodle of him created in ink right from the pages of my sketchbook!

Try as he may, Frankie just isn't coordinated enough for "Thriller."

If you are a user of Facebook, come join the Chad Frye • Illustration Guy fan page where today I have unveiled a new contest open only to registered fans there! The contest is completely free with the prize to win a signed and sketched on print along with a copy of one of my children’s books! So come on over and join in the fun!

Rocket Ship Caption Contest Winner!

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Well, two weeks ago I announced a contest that was being held over on the Chad Frye • Illustration Guy Facebook Fan Page. The idea was simply to suggest a good caption for the cartoon drawing I posted. Well, after 95 caption suggestions, I narrowed it down to the five best and then let the fans vote on them.

Congratulations to the winner of our little contest! Bruce Higdon of Tennessee won himself a signed and sketched-in copy of my children’s book Jonah and the Very Big Fish. I have re-posted the cartoon below with Bruce’s caption, and then listed the other 4 finalists below him.

Many thanks to all who played along! Come join the Facebook Fan Page where more contests will be conducted in the future!

Photo Contest Winner Announced!

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Over on the Chad Frye • Illustration Guy Fan Page on Facebook, I’ve been running a photo contest for the past month. The instructions were simple – take a photo of yourself with a book, card, poster, piece of art, or even a print-out of something of mine. Be as creative as possible. Photos came in  from all over the United States taken anywhere between Hawaii all the way to Ireland! It was really terrific.

One of the early front runners was this picture of Brian Hohlfeld, the executive producer of The Disney Channel's "My Friends Tigger & Pooh" show taken in Hawaii while holding one of Chad's Christmas cards.

Another early favorite was this photo by Andy Heckathorne who works at Penn State University. He has Chad's recent Frankenstein head attached to the statue of Joe Paterno at Beaver Stadium.

All the photos were due this past Monday, and then the real contest began to see how many votes the photos would get from the fellow fans in order to choose a winner. Voting has been fierce this week. The voting started with about five photos being neck in neck, then three of them surged forward with more votes. A quick check to discover that those three photographers were doing some pretty good campaigning for their photos – not at all against the rules.

This sweet photo sent in by Shawn Garzony of South Carolina shows her daughter with Chad's second book, My Bible (published by Barbour & Co. in 1993). This earned a highly respectable 26 votes for third place.

Then, in just the past day, two pics pulled away on their quest to be first at the finish line. The race has been very exciting with votes coming in from all over the country. First it was one out in front, then the other. The tension was edge-of-your-seat thrilling!

This shot of Michael Boone was sent in by his brother Matt. While standing on the campus of Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, Michael is holding a sketch of Mushu from Disney's "Mulan" that Chad drew back in 1998. This had 33 votes.

And then pulling away with just 3 extra votes for a grand total of 36 is our winner, Heather Lynn Lewis Schaub of South Carolina. Heather’s was certainly the most bizarre entry. She managed to acquire a print of a “magic toenail” I drew for a mutual friend who had recently lost a toenail due to long distance running. So Heather got her family together in front of the SC State Capitol Building and took this shot of their feet with the little purple toenail drawing.

This odd, and yet strangely creatively compelling photo by Heather Lynn Lewis Schaub was the winner with 36 votes.

So, what does Heather win for all her trouble? She wins the original gorilla drawing titled The Wingman featured here on the blog in a recent “Drawn & Quoted” column. That’s right, she won an original piece of art! Not too shabby for humiliating her family out in public.

So, are you on Facebook? Do you like Chad’s art here on his BLOG and on his WEBSITE? Come on over and join the Chad Frye • Illustration Guy Fan Page on Facebook where future contests will be held.
